It showed very early an accurate depiction of Pashtun culture and their inner struggle against the Taliban.
3) Along with the neutral political stance the movie didnt take any cheap shots at feeding the audience who was bad and good. It showed a very accurate portrayal of the bonds that form especially among America's elite. 1) Berge did a great job of displaying this movie in a neutral political view (Marcus wasn't so kind.) 2) This movie didnt "romanticize" war. I've read in other threads about the bs politics associated with this movie. Basically quit looking for something to complain about and jist appreciate the gritty and realistic view of the sacrifices made. To tell the story of how his brothers died and the dedication and brotherhood he shared with them. I've read the book more than three times and absolutely in no way was disappointed with how Berge brought it to life. This movie stayed true for the most part to the book. I can't get through too many more comments without posting. Then again, that movie wasn't about any specific real life person who still had relatives that could watch the movie. There are parts to it that just shake you. That's kind of why I think it's the best war movie ever made. That kind of a brutal death was something Saving Private Ryan didn't shy away from. If your son died in that way, you wouldn't want to watch it reenacted on screen. I can understand why they didn't show that in the movie though. It was gut wrenching to hear Marcus Luttrell talk about it. Marcus had put his gun down and was covering his ears cause he couldn't stand listening to him die. From what I've read and watched, he was screaming at Marcus to help him out. Now, the guy who went out on the rock to get a signal with his sat phone didn't exactly just sit there and take round after round. They just did a great job of showing the punishment these guys took.
